A Dam Day of Fishing in August
The day began fishing the Androscoggin River just below Pontook Dam in Dummer, New Hampshire. Many watch the water release schedule and plan rafting trips accordingly. Contrary to popular thought, this was not a distraction to the Agiocochook fly fishing instruction underway. Footing on lots of small and slippery rocks can be treacherous and requires a great deal of caution. It was not long before Dante eased his way from the water's edge to the middle of the river in hot pursuit of his first catch. After lunch at Ursula's, we moved on to the head of the Androscoggin in Errol, also home of L.L. Cote. The upper Andro is a popular for the chance to catch landlocked salmon or smallmouth bass. The day officially ended with Dante's first catch where the Androscoggin begins. |
