Beyond Applied Behavior Analysis - Techniques For Teaching Language to Children with Autism

       SESSION #2

COMMUNICATION and LANGUAGE INTERVENTION in YOUNG CHILDREN with AUTISM

     Syllabus
1. Communication difficulties are universally present in individuals with autism. This has lead many researchers to speculate that deficits in communication and social interaction may be the primary cause of autism and that other symptoms such as behavioral problems are secondary as a result of these underlying communication based difficulties. There is a direct correlation between communication and language difficulties and inappropriate behaviors such as aggression, self stim, and self injury.
